Scope
This policy applies to Yanioba, a Ghana-focused mobile app for incident reporting, safety awareness, alert zones, maps, notifications, account management, payments, and support. It also applies to this public website and account deletion page.
Information We Collect
Yanioba may collect account information such as name, username, profile details, email address, phone number, verification status, password credentials, multi-factor settings, and profile photo.
When you use safety features, Yanioba may collect incident reports, selected categories, report summaries, report locations, attachments, incident follow activity, alert zones, notification preferences, moderation reports, and activity records.
Payment and plan features may involve plan selections, wallet token-balance records, payment attempts, payment verification details, payment activity, and entitlement status. Support requests may include the contact details and message content you provide.
How Information Is Used
Yanioba uses information to create and secure accounts, verify contact details, receive and organize incident reports, show nearby safety activity, support alert zones, send selected notifications, help users follow incidents, reduce duplicate reports, moderate harmful or false content, provide support, process payments, and manage access to paid or role-based features.
Location and Incident Content
Location information is used for incident reporting, map discovery, route context, alert zones, current-location alerts, and nearby activity. Incident reports and attachments may be visible to other users or authorised agency and administrative users where the product makes that information available for safety awareness, review, moderation, or incident operations.
Service Providers
Yanioba uses service providers for functions such as Google sign-in, maps and place search, push notifications, payment processing through Paystack, email delivery, SMS delivery, and media storage. These providers process information only as needed for the relevant product, payment, notification, or support function.
Cookies and Website Tracking
This website does not use advertising or analytics cookies. A separate cookie policy is not required unless Yanioba later adds non-essential cookies, analytics, advertising, or similar tracking technologies to the website.
Retention and Deletion
Yanioba keeps information for as long as it is needed to provide the app, maintain account and incident records, support moderation and security, process payments, resolve support requests, or meet legal and operational obligations. Users can request account and associated data deletion from the app or through the public deletion page. Some records may be retained where required for security, fraud prevention, payment records, dispute handling, legal compliance, or platform integrity.
Your Choices and Rights
You can manage profile details, notification preferences, alert zones, security settings, and account deletion from the app where those features are available. Ghanaian users may also contact Yanioba about access, correction, deletion, objection, or other data-protection requests under applicable law, including Ghana's Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843).
